Chengdu last week hosted an awards ceremony feting the winners of the annual China's Good Life Survey. Xiamen ranked first on the list of China's happiest cities in 2020. Cities rounding out the top five include Lhasa, Chengdu, Huhhot and Qingdao.
The China Media Group joined with the National Bureau of Statistics, the China Post Group and the National School of Development of Peking University to conduct the survey, which covered 100,000 households in more than 100 cities.
The survey assessed cities on the basis of economic development, personal satisfaction, domestic consumption and investment expectations, livelihood challenges and self-reported assessments of resident happiness.
